What started off as a mere death scream stock sound effect had entered popular culture through its repeated, and more often as an in joke, implementation in films, TV, and interactive media. It found new lease of life in 1977 during the escape from the Death Star in Star Wars and has been used time and time again when an unfortunate mook meets their untimely demise. It came full circle when video game company Rockstar Games implemented it into their love letter to the old west in Red Dead Redemption.
